Re: My mate is gay
I agree, let him down gentaly, it takes real guts to do somthing like that (I'd never be able to do that to the guy that I like). On the other hand you said that you were thinking about it, you might want to experiment with him though if you do tell him that your not that serious and are just experimenting, you don't want to losse your best so just be careful what ever you deside to do.

Hi sunstreaker, and welcome to problempages! Just a quick note to remind you that this topic was started over four years ago, so has likely been resolved. Your advice would be put to better use in more current threads. Cheers

Re: My mate is gay
Ok..after reading your problem, I think you are really young, I had sexuality issues from the age of 15 and i'm now 17 i'm gay so I can understand fully about the issue your faced with. I fell for my best friend which later I acted upon it however it was not in the same instances such as what your being faced with. What I think you should do is try and tell him he's still your best mate or your mate but you're not gay unless you see yourself as being bisexual and in that case you'd just need to accept that, many people don't wanna loose their friendships which I feel that could be what your also struggling to cope with, My advice to you from someone who's gay is go with your heart and gut feeling, if you think it's right then go for it if not then stay friends with him because it'll look like your homophobic which your not and trust me it's horrible when someone is homophobic agaist you which i've dealt with in the past.
Try and let him down gently explain to him your always going to be there for him but you dont really wanna take it any further than just a friendship.
All the Best.

Hi Sam
This topic was started 5 years ago, so the problem is probably resolved by now.

Hey, boys and girls, don't ever be embarrassed about wanting to help!
It might be time to lock this thread, though, but leave it where it is, for people to read the good advice PPers have offered.
We hope that people with problems along the same lines will have the courage to post their own problems, and get advice specifically aimed at them.
