Clingy Mother

Post by jillywilly1965 » Wed Jul 23, 2014 4:04 pm

Mum age - 73
My age - 49

I seem to have become the main focus of my Mum's life since my Dad died some 12 years ago.

I got divorced three years ago and now feel that it is time for me to move and re-start my life - everytime I mention this my Mum has objections.

I feel that this is all brewing into a big row unless I can find a diplomatic way to tell her to back off.

I work in the week so do not see her but every Saturday and Sunday she is at my house and I am really getting fed up with it.

I have one daughter at home who is 16 and she is also tired of us not having any time to ourselves.

Any suggestions?

Get your mum involved an a hobby or group class. Something like bowls. She will meet lots of people and before you know it you will be moaning you never see her. This is what happened with my Mum in law.
