You may or may not know I work for a company that helps people with 'barriers' get back into work.
A few months ago, we got a lady a care job, going to elderly people's homes and looking after them. The lady in question was an ex-heroin addict. The company were aware of this and were happy to give her an opportunity.
Her consultant has come to speak to me and my colleague this morning, and said that she came to him on Tuesday and told him that she was back on heroin and had stolen some money from one of the elderly people she was supposed to be looking after. He came round asking what he was supposed to do, saying he was struggling to balance his moral obligations with not wanting to lose the his jobstart.
I absolutely am 100% on the side of morality. I think she needs to be out of that company right away before she can do anymore damage and that is what I will do if he doesnt do anything. I made my feelings on the subject perfectly clear and said if he doesnt do anything about it, I will.
What my question is, how long do I give him to sort it himself? The longer she's in work, the more risk these elderly people are under, but I dont want to swoop in and make things worse as I dont know what the correct procedure is for this sort of situation. I feel like I'm in way over my head here
