I find it a bit strange that you're so interested in doing beauty when you're not that great at it? If you were that interested, you'd think you would have experimented and got much better at it as you've got older? I'm sure you can still learn how to do it, but it just seems strange to me that you're keen on it when you're not good at it.

The only thing I would say about beauty is lots of girls do it. It's usually used as a last resort when you don't get then exams you need for a particular course, or certainly is around here. The girls in my local salon say it's hard to get a job as so many people are qualified. They all work part time and have to do late shifts and stuff. Most of them have to work in more than one salon or have two jobs.
If you like dance thats great but has it got any prospects of a job at the end of it?

Usually those who do beauty have a natural flair for these sorts of things, but i have to agree with the others, and i wonder if you do genuinely want to do beauty because you think you'd enjoy it, or whether you feel it's one of your only options.

If you do genuinely enjoy beauty and feel that you would enjoy a job in beauty, then try to get some experience to improve and to see what the job would be like, visit beauty counters in department stores or go to youtube to watch make up tutorials.

If dance is really what your interested in and enjoy, but you don't get on to a dance course, then i'm sure there are plenty of other options to improve your chances of getting onto a course or getting a job involving dance, e.g. volunteering to take/help out at dance classes

I originally sent this to the original poster because I am shy about posting answers x3 Anyway... Deciding to add my reply to the problem, incase it could possibley help anyone else ever thinking about beauty.

Hi there,
Thought I would post as I've had experience in makeup.
I agree with what others have said, If you are really interested in it, perhaps you would have wanted to experiment and improve more on your own already.

The beauty therapy NVQ course I did was (Which I must add - i hated it) mainly focused on skin, hair removal all over, eye lashing tinting as so on. From what i felt (this is why I left) there was hardly any makeup involved (If your determined to that, but hate the other stuff, I wouldn't recommend it). If you are talking about doing bridal looks, basic beauty/prom looks then this could be an idea but like everything, it takes practice. There a lot of great tutorials (as someone mentioned) and brilliant books out there, but that wont help unless you *actually* try it.

If your thinking of more in depth creative makeup I would suggest what I did, I went to London and did an intensive makeup course (AOFM). I was able to work with some really great artists, i got to assist in London fashion week and create some really unusual and striking stuff and - if i was closer to location, would have been able to do more shoots through them. This isn't a cheap option, and in my case had to be funded myself (since its not a college).

I think you need to think it over about what kind of 'makeup' you wish to do.

I'm not really sure if that helped at all!
